Wakayama Kuroama 黒あま (Black Sesame) Persimmons are a unique and rare black persimmon variety.
Kuroama (黒あま), got its “black sesame-like” flesh from aged tannin using special growing technique and is harvested only when it is fully ripen, which resulted in a richer sweetness and non-astringent fruit.
Growing along the Kinokawa River in Wakayama Prefecture provided a much needed optimal breeding environment with plentiful minerals that enhance the flavour and texture of Kuroama Persimmon.
Only 1% of the batch is selected, and only the finest are carefully selected to be sold under the name “Kuroama”.
